The first FSDC-hosted panel session held overseas was successfully concluded in Los Angeles in the afternoon, 20 September 2019 (Pacific time). Themed "Think Finance, Think Hong Kong: Investing in Asia", the panel drew an audience of nearly 100 including leading financial institutions in the US.
Comprising speakers Mr Bernard Chan, Convenor of Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, HKSAR Government, Ms Bonnie Chan, FSDC Board member, Mr Calvin Choi, Chairman and CEO, AMTD Group and Mr Romnesh Lamba, Co-President, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited; and moderated by Mr Christopher Hui, FSDC Executive Director, the panel discussed how businesses can capitalize on the opportunities and services made available by the vibrant financial services industry in Hong Kong.
The panelists shared their views on the short- and long-term investment outlook in Asia, Hong Kong as a gateway for international investors with different risk appetites and how regional developments such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area can shape the unique role of Hong Kong in future, in addition to reiterating Hong Kong’s status as a global financial centre.
