Earth Forum 2022 - The Prospect of Hong Kong Climate Exchange (By Invitation Only)
As climate change becomes a global consensus, countries around the world actively incorporate financial innovation in the carbon reduction system. Carbon finance will provide new development to Hong Kong’s economic growth as an international financial center. The Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group has recently published its preliminary assessment of Hong Kong as a regional carbon centre. Research shows a voluntary carbon market has many advantages for Hong Kong and is a suitable path for this very purpose.
Friends of the Earth (HK) and Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) co-organized a special annual event Earth Forum 2022 on 22 April, Earth Day, with support from the Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA).
The objective of the forum is to consult with leading industry experts and policy makers on options and practical solutions and discuss prospects of cross border collaboration between the mainland and Hong Kong. This special Earth Forum will be a close door roundtable to facilitate open and frank discussions.
Mr. Joseph CHAN, Under Secretary of Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and Dr. Jun MA, from HKGFA deliver keynote speeches. We aspire for the forum to develop key recommendations on carbon market opportunities, which would be an important part of achieving the net-zero goal and realizing the sustainable development of a low-carbon economy.
